Recognised with the prestigious Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin - Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) status in 1993, this wine embodies the very essence of the Moscato Bianco grape.
The grapes, cultivated with a maximum yield of 10 tonnes per hectare, give life to a delicate nectar with an elegant straw-yellow hue that hints at its natural liveliness.

On the palate, its fine and persistent mousse gently caresses, while the aroma enchants with an intensely floral fragrance enriched by a distinctive note of sage.
Its brilliant clarity is yet another sign of its quality.
With a minimum total alcohol content of 11%, of which at least 4.5% is actual alcohol, Moscato d’Asti is presented as a light, aromatic wine.

How It’s Made:

Unlike Asti Spumante, the production of Moscato d’Asti is defined by the early interruption of alcoholic fermentation, which is halted when the wine reaches a moderate alcohol content — around 5% ABV — and by a lower internal pressure. These features give it its unmistakable lively, gently sparkling character.

The process begins with a delicate pressing of Moscato Bianco grapes using modern pneumatic presses — a crucial step in preserving the quality of the must.

Next comes clarification, a meticulous procedure aimed at removing solid particles and unwanted components. The purified must is then chilled and stored in large stainless-steel tanks, where it undergoes repeated tangential filtration to prevent the onset of spontaneous fermentation.

At this point, alcoholic fermentation is initiated under controlled temperature, using selected yeasts that enhance the distinctive aromatic bouquet of Moscato.

Once the desired alcohol level is reached, fermentation is stopped by rapidly lowering the temperature. The spent yeasts are then gently removed through centrifugation or filtration, sealing in the freshness and fragrance that define this unique wine.

In 2023, Canelli received official recognition as the Moscato di Canelli DOCG, a designation reserved for the historic area where the renowned aromatic wine originated.
Here, among rolling hills lined with perfect rows of vines and historic cellars carved into the rock — the Underground Cathedrals, a UNESCO World Heritage Site — one of the finest and most terroir-driven expressions of Moscato d’Asti is born.
