In the Footsteps of History

Continuing through the village’s lanes, beneath the arch of Porta Avene, you will find a heraldic fresco that recounts the history of Mango through the coats of arms of the powers that have ruled here over the centuries. A little further on, the view opens onto the castle square, dominated by the large painting of the Marquis of Busca, a noble figure central to the town’s history.

An Open‑Air Museum Along the Streets

The alleyways are filled with precious details: medieval paintings on roof tiles, hand‑painted terracotta tiles depicting ancient trades, scenes of rural life, medicinal herbs, coats of arms, corten‑steel silhouettes of ladies and knights, painted gardens, and mural frescoes. A striking work by artist Tore Milano decorates more than 40 meters of paving in Vicolo Lamarmora, creating a captivating, immersive visual itinerary.

Photographic Memory and Contemporary Art

Not to be missed is the photographic route Come eravamo (“The Way We Were”), a moving collection of black‑and‑white images documenting the daily life of Mango’s families from the late 19th century to the 1950s.

On the top floor of the castle, inside the premises of the Enoteca Regionale del Moscato, you’ll find the Pinacoteca delle Langhe: a remarkable collection of works by local artists, a true treasure chest of the area’s art and creativity.

Sculptures and Symbols of Identity

In Piazza Avene and Piazza XX Settembre, you can admire bronze and stone monuments by sculptor Paolo Spinoglio, while in the castle courtyard and on Via Molinari stand two curious sculptures dedicated to the Tabui, the legendary Langhe dog of mysterious lineage.

This beloved symbol of loyalty, intuition, and freedom is also the star of a popular annual festival, filled with music, storytelling, and rural traditions.
